George R Fish of Sun day town was honored at Camp Yawgoog in front of about 2000 Boy Scouts and guests at the Williams Amphitheatre. He has served as scoutmaster of Bristol Troop 1 since 1912 and received a copy of Rogers Williams Key into the Language of America.

Internal Survey Of Local Bristol Schools Starts In Fall

An internal curriculum survey for Bristol Schools will begin in the fall and run over two to three years. Superintendent Edward J. Fitzgerald says the self appraisal involves teachers and principals with a coordinat ing committee led by Wilfred M. Hamill. The project aims to review all subject areas and inform parents as it engages the P T A and graduates for input.

Birth of Daughter Jacquelyn Santos

Mr and Mrs William Santos announce the birth of a daughter Jacquelyn Sunday July 25 at the Lying In Hospital Mrs Santos formerly Miss Etta Grimo. Troop Four plans a week at Camp Yawgoog with Scoutmaster William F Head in charge and room for a few more scouts who must sign up at once.

The Warren brothers drowned after one fell from a railroad bridge and the other dived in to save him. The Bristol Rescue Squad played a role in the water safety campaign that emphasized these dangers, as the tragedy brought the issue home.

Paull Wins Williston Cup in Bristol Beetle Race

Seth Paull sailed his Scoot to win the Williston Trophy Cup for the Beetle Class at Bristol Yacht Club. He finished three and a half minutes ahead of Franny de Wolf in the Reddy with a clear weather day and eight to nine knot winds. State St. Project Starts Contractor Hurt in Accident

A Bristol waterworks widening project began on State Street between Hope and Thames Streets. Contractor O I Bergstrom was injured when a power shovel struck him, his bruises treated and he sent home. Officials stress safety and warn swimmers away from dangerous dares by water.

New Bus Plan In Effect Tomorrow

The New England Transportation agency will start a new schedule around the Loop on a 60 day trial. Half hourly buses leave Buffington's at five minutes past the hour following the old Bristol route via Franklin Wood and Hope. The other half hourly buses begin at 8 20 a m from Providence and include a 7 20 p m from Providence following the alternate route. Buses stop at Buffington's at ten minutes past or twenty minutes to the hour on Hope Street.

Bristol and Pawtucket Play Ground League Showdown Tomorrow

Tomorrow evening at 7 at the Common the Bristol league leaders meet the Pawtucket crew coached by Art Nooney. Pawtucket East high school teammates from Marvel Gym will feature in the game arranged by Ernie Calverly with Vincent J Santo coaching the local side. Anthony E Agatiello will officiate, a Pawtucket East selection noted for state playoffs. An irony ties Agatiello’s prior refereeing to Pawtucket losses. A second note says the Gorillas and Apes Animal League baseball game is rescheduled to tomorrow at 2 pm.
