Town Dog Officer Ferreira Pushes Year Round Licensing

Dog officer Denis Ferreira vows strict enforcement of dog licensing with the aim of year round compliance. He cites about 200 dogs to be picked up and notes a new pound at the old Asylum site with five stalls. Owners must license dogs at the town clerk and face loss of custody for unlicensed dogs after June 1.

Rose C. Baseball Featured At Community Playground

The community playground will host a baseball game tomorrow for boys 15 and under from Warren and Bristol at 10 o clock on the Common. Archie P Allen, supervisor, said plans are underway to form a girls 15 and under softball team and another boys 15 and under baseball team. Tomorrow afternoon features a horseshoe pitching contest.

Preliminary competitive examinations for United States Military Academy and United States Naval Academy appointments will be held Saturday July 31 1943 at Central High School 170 Pond Street Providence starting 9 am Congressman Aimee Forand announced all candidates should arrive early to complete preliminaries.

Bridge Party Winners Named By Beach Terrace Association

First prize went to Roger W Pidgeon and Miss Alice Bartlett. Walter Jones and Miss Mary Remington won second place. Twelve tables of bridge were played at the home of Mrs Albert FE Dubuc, social committee chair, with Beach Road Mrs Dubuc assisted by committee members.

Must Call at Office For Gas Ration Coupons

Captain Paul A. Herzig of the local Rationing Board urges truck owners who have not received their third quarter gasoline ration coupons to visit the board office in person. Coupons must be endorsed with registration numbers and farmers should write name and address. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 30 p.m with Wednesday morning closed until 1 p.m and Thursday evening from 7 to 10. Telephone calls accepted 8 30 a.m. to 5 30 p.m. at Bristol 1057.

Yacht Club Dance At Bristol Club Next Saturday

Graduation in Edgewood Arsenal Officers Candidate School

John D. Hogan Jr and other graduates were commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army. The Edgewood Arsenal class studied protective clothing decontamination administration treatment of gas casualties and chemical warfare materiel and tactics. Graduates were chosen for the school by their superiors based on records education and character.

Rotary District Governor to Speak at Local Club Meeting

Discussion Group Plans Summer Outdoor and Indoor Meetings
