Red Cross plans Bristol home nursing campaign meeting

Mrs. Donald S. Babcock chair of the Providence Red Cross Home Nursing Committee calls a Bristol meeting for Monday at 7 45 p m at Holmes House to plan a campaign. The 12 lesson course aims to train at least one capable home nurse per household to handle epidemics and basic care in war and peace.

Invasion Maneuvers End In Draw For Bristol Guards

A wartime field exercise near Bristol involved Company G I State Guard defending three plants against a paratrooper incursion. Lt Luke H White led 10 invaders who penetrated to Bristol Mfg Corp and US Rubber, six captured, defense held, and Capt Morris deemed the problem a draw.

Air Raid Sirens Set For Daily Noon Tests In Bristol

Bristol Council of Defense voted to sound air raid sirens daily at noon except Sundays starting Monday. Frank J. Sylvia volunteered to head the effort while A A Edmonds oversees the August moving picture program with A A Edmonds in charge. Army units to demonstrate equipment on the Common

Army Signal Corps and Ordnance Department will stage demonstrations on Tuesday evening at seven on the Common, showing a telephone switchboard, assault wire, a 90 mm anti aircraft gun, and a searchlight unit. About 80 men will participate, with a Camp Myles Standish band providing music.

Yacht Club Dance Promises Nautical Theme At Bristol

Tomorrow evening the Bristol Yacht Club hosts a 9 to 1 dance with nautical decorations and a surprise feature planned. Servicemen can attend at half price. Truck Driver Escapes Injury in Hope Street Crash

Thomas M Pagno 30 of 122 Fairview Street Providence escaped injury when his truck ran out of control on Hope Street near Hope and Wood streets. The vehicle struck the curb, careened across the road, and struck a young tree at its base but remained drivable. No serious damage reported to the truck.
