YMCA Day Camp Week Two Brings Rainy Fun and Fleet Activities

The second week of the YMCA Day Camp opened on a rainy Monday with all sessions at the Y. Advanced swimmers and older campers enjoyed sailing lessons by Pam Southwick while younger campers hiked between showers and watched a movie in the afternoon. Tuesday introduced swim tests for two week campers. Wednesday featured tin foil cooking with hamburger patties, carrots and potatoes prepared by campers. Waterfront activities included a large rubber raft and motor boats under supervision of Director Hector and counselors. Campers, including Robin Cranshaw, Pamela Francis and others, ferried to Hog Island with Manny Sousa guiding the Prudence Island Ferry. A pillow case dance and silent charades entertained the girls, while boys did a conga dance. A fowl shooting contest produced group results across four groups. Honor Guard groups and scavenger hunt prizes highlighted the week's events, with a Cape Cod trip planned for July 26 for eligible campers.
