Fourth of July Committee Final Report Due Soon
Francis N. Perry reports at last Friday’s meeting that within two weeks the 4th of July committee will decide if it is red or black. Costs cited include 500 for floats 900 for the block dance 2250 for parade bands and a 74 loss on the 4th Ball. Fireworks issues cited with Interstate Fireworks Manufacturing and Display Co. of Springfield failing to meet contract terms, a 55 minute show lasting 35 minutes and trench digging problems. A subcommittee led by Martin Biancuzzo will meet officials to resolve payment for the fireworks. Separate note from Lt Col Donald A. Monroe announces initial shipments for the Mt Bristol Battery Site at Thames Street to prepare for the Nike Hercules missile changeover and a large dedication ceremony to mark the Rhode Island site shift.

Youth fishing demonstration at Town Beach set for July 23
The State Department of Fish and Game will host a fishing demonstration at Town Beach on Thursday July 23 at 2 30 p m. The event covers fly casting spin rod casting and bait casting for adults and children with participants invited to bring their tackle. Lt Steve Fougere leads the program with Manuel Canario and Percy Brownell assisting, arranged by Vincent Securo of the Recreation Board. An added feature explains Rhode Island fishing laws on pollution and shellfish size limits.

Judge Grants Injunction In Bakery Case
Judge Fred B Perkins granted a temporary injunction to Emilio Savastano preventing the former owner from competing unfairly after selling his bakery at 31 State St. The lease barred Joseph Vorro and Anna Vorro from any bakery within 25 miles for the lease duration. The Vorros allegedly opened JoAnn's Bakery at 346 Wood St near State St on July 1, with Mrs. Vorro at the counter and Mr. Vorro handling pastry. Perkins noted the bakery name and both Vorros involved.
