Scouts Net 10 Tons In Town-Wide Paper Drive
Bristol Boy Scout Drum and Bugle Corps collected over ten tons of newspapers and magazines in a town wide drive announced by Commissioner George R. Fish. Proceeds fund sending the corps to the American Legion national competition in New York August 28 to 30. Scouts from Bristol Troops 1 4 and 5 participated with trucks from the Town and Manuel Cardoza. The drive supports the August 3 fourth annual drum corps competition at Guiteras Field and the New York trip, as well as a Yawgoog camping trip next week.

Bristol native dies after Swansea truck crash near Bristol
Dominic Notarangelo 25 of 18 Congregational Street Bristol died from probable skull fracture after a truck accident in Swansea Massachusetts Sunday evening. The cab driver Vincent Notarangelo faces DUI and endangerment charges. Ernest Sousa 18 and Ruth Koschny 19 were injured. Notarangelo was to receive full military rites with a Mass at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church.

Bris Driver Fined After Hope Street Crash
James Medeiros, 29, of 214 Franklin Street, was fined 100 dollars and costs by Judge James B. Linehan for driving while intoxicated in a special Fifth District Court session Saturday. His car struck a parked vehicle owned by John J. Callan at Usher Place, mounted an embankment on Hope Street, and damaged both vehicles. He also paid 25 dollars and costs in Warren for leaving the scene, and fled the Warren crash site afterward.
