Bristol Boy Scout Bugle Corps Drives Paper to Fund New York Trip

The Bristol Bugle and Drum Corps sponsored by Kearney Post No 6 seeks local paper donations to fund its trip to the 1947 National Convention in New York City August 28 29 and 30 The drive starts at noon with bundles tied for curb pickup and bags for rags The corps state champions have a planned Bristol contest August 3 at Gui teras field and a parade at 2 pm A Webster Mass event is set for July 20 and a meeting tonight at Kearney Post Home will finalize plans for the journey to New York

Canon Parshley To Be Honored At Reception

The Wardens and parish groups of St Michael's Church plan a reception for Canon Anthony R. Parshley and family at the Parish House on Sunday evening July 13 from 7 30 to 9. His resignation as rector takes effect next Tuesday as he becomes Arch Deacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island. Howard R. Newman chairs the organizing committee with members Martha Graham Irene Gallo and others.

Diamond Hopefuls To Attend Playground Baseball School

Tony Agatiello Bristol playground director announced a Baseball School on the playground starting Monday July 14 at 1 30 P M. Assisted by Albert Fusonie and Sammy DelPiano, the program features leagues Bananas Peaches Apples Pineapples Panthers Wildcats Tigers Jellyfish Starfish Flatfish Goldfish and more. A new sliding pit and sprinkler system open, plus a radio for afternoon games and a children's magazine library are planned. A checker tournament and entry drive close Wednesday.

Yacht Club Resumes Tues And Sat Series

The Bristol Yacht Club restarts its Wednesday and Saturday Series this summer. Herreshoff 12 and Beetle classes compete with 3 00 pm starts for Herreshofts and 3 05 pm for Beetles. Scoring uses the season long point system with prizes based on full records. Members from other clubs with 12s or Beetles invited to join.

War Memorial Committee completes its assigned task

The War Memorial Committee reports to the Town Council after studying options for a World War II memorial. It recommends building a bathhouse and memorial park on land slated for condemnation, with park development following years later and the memorial funded from existing appropriations. If no memorial is built by August 1949, funds could finance a shell bandstand and comfort station on the Common.
