Town moves to build two Bristol beaches on Narragansett Bay

Bristol Town Council weighs developing two new beaches one on the east shore of Narragansett Bay at Colt Drive and another at Oliver Street to serve children and summer recreation. Councilman James J Velleca says about 14 000 state funds may be allocated pro rata to Bristol County projects and a Narragansett Bay site near Judge Frindemuth’s cottage is favored.

McCaw Brothers Make Canal History

The Panama Canal recorded a first as two McCaw brothers met aboard rival ships in passing at the canal. Captain Harold McCaw of the SS City of Los Angeles and Captain Samuel McCaw of a Werverhauser lumber boat shared a cordial greeting as their vessels met, a historic coincidence noted by canal officials.
