United Fund Extends Aid With Urban Emergency Fund
The United Fund of Southeastern New England starts an Urban Emergency Fund with a $400,000 minimum, to finance new and intensified services in inner city areas. Funds are restricted to designated gifts and will support urban residents, with 105 agencies under review for funding relevance and possible fee adjustments. Budget hearings began in May with over 10,000 volunteer hours expected before the 1969 campaign goal.
