Led by Joe Benevides and Frankie Sousa the U Silt Ace Senate Robber defeated Carr Mfg Co 5-0 in Bristol Twilight League action. Benevides Sousa Salzano and Securo produced key hits while D'Ambrosio was hit hard for Carr with Sousa homering. Solid defense by Cardoza and Jake McCarthy highlighted the shutout.
Funeral services for Mrs Gertrude Victoria of 241 State street were held after dying Friday. Rev Henrique Rocha officiated at a solemn requiem at St Elizabeths Church. Burial was in St Marys Cemetery. She was born in Azores 65 years ago and lived in Bristol 48 years. Survived by husband Frank R Victoria two daughters Mrs Domenic Sousa and Mrs John Arruda a son Joseph two sisters Mrs Laura Mendes and Mrs Mary Corte and a brother Antone Gonsalves.

In Bristol two weddings were held on Saturday at St Marys and Our Lady of Mt Carmel. Ruggiero Troiano and Libera Troiano joined in Mount Carmel with Anthony Ruggerio. guests came from Portland New York Boston Providence and Worcester. The couple will live at 16 Peck Avenue and Libera works at Outlet Company Providence.
Anthony Agatiello a Bristol school teacher and R ICE graduate has been named principal of the Our Lady of Mt Carmel vacation school. En rollment reached an all time high with 309 students. the five week July August course will be taught by six teachers from local public schools and nuns from the Order of Saint Lucia Filippini. Students will study music and soap and wood carving with a baseball team among older boys as another feature.
Two people sustained injuries on Sunday Dorothy Estrella a 13 year old from 160 High Street was hurt on the left side of her face by an exploding firecracker Manuel Sousa a 22 year old of 61 Court Street was injured while playing baseball on the Common suffering a deep laceration of the ring finger of the right hand from a pitched ball They received treatment from Dr. C Paul Bruno.
