Aids Vessel In Cape Cod Canal by Coast Guard Cutter Spar
The Coast Guard Cutter Spar based in town aided the destroyer escort Hammerberg trapped in ice at the western Cape Cod Canal. Cmdr Lt Norman P Ensrud secured a tow line and towed Hammerberg free with no damage reported. Spar had been en route to Boston when ice forced a return.
