Health Officer case tests scarlet fever or measles in child

In district court, Dr Hasbrouck faced cross examination over Nettie Lewis’s illness. Witnesses from school and medicine, including Dr Williams and Dr Merriman, testified about scarlet fever versus German measles. The trial continued into the afternoon with argument and expert debate on symptoms and desquamation.

Two Ballots For Senator In State Legislature

Special to the Phoenix reports no Senate voting on U S Senator since last Friday. Noon ballots show Colt 388, Wetmore 31, Goddard 41, Utter 1. A second ballot produced the same tally and an adjournment was taken until tomorrow noon. The day marks the first instance of two ballots and Colt supporters remain confident of victory this week.

Y M C A Basket Ball Schedule at Bristol

The Y M C A first team lists games from January 24 to March 7 with opponents Lawrence Club Fall River Newport Naval Reserves Middleboro Taunton Tiger Athletic Club Providence New Bedford South Ends, and an open date on February 14. The January 24 match vs Lawrence Club of Fall River is highlighted as fast basketball with Bristol expected to witness strong play.

King Philip Fair Opens with Festive Parade at Artillery Hall

The eighth King Philip Steam Fire Engine Co. No. 1 fair opened Saturday at Artillery Hall State street with a parade from the Franklin street depot to the armory. Out of town guests included Mule Spinners Association Warren Artillery and Jaques Cartier society. Last night visitors were St Marys T A society Hydraulion Engine and Hose Co No 1 Defiance Hose Co Mechanic Engine and Warren Harmony Band.

District Court disposes several cases in morning session

In the district court yesterday morning, Euclid Nichols v Eddy was continued one week. Philip Carr, arrested Sunday as a vagrant, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in the House of Correction. Joseph Peters was placed on probation until April 22. J H Morrissey v Fontaine was continued one week. Alfonso Rosero v Annie Maloney was continued two weeks.

Funeral of Comrade Cyrus Pray at Soldiers' Home

Funeral for Comrade Cyrus Pray who died at the Soldiers' Home held yesterday at 10 o clock. Rev Dr Locke of St Michael's church conducted services. Comrades at the Home served as bearers. The body was placed in the receiving tomb at North Cemetery.
