Bristol England a valley city with ancient trade roots
Bristol England sits between hills in a narrow valley extending north into Somerset. It rose with Saxon minting authority around 1000 AD, grew through merchant guilds and the Society of Merchant Venturers, and profited from wool, cloth, and early global trade including slave routes. The city features historic churches, alms houses, a university, and a busy harbor with a strong-American trade presence.
