Breaks Reported At Two Poppasquash Residences

Two houses in the Poppasquash Point area were burglarized with valuables stolen. Howe Freeman and William Farnsworth homes were entered. caretaker Anthony Medeiros found a broken east window at the Freeman place and later Edmund Medeiros reported the Farnsworth break. Items stolen include glasses, china, a vacuum cleaner, textiles, a waffle iron, and more. telephones were ripped from walls. Police suspect the same burglar(s) in both incidents. State trooper William Partington collected fingerprints.

Bristol Train Of Artillery At Inaugural Ball Color Parade

The Bristol Train of Artillery, Rhode Island's oldest chartered unit, joined in the Governor's Inaugural Ball trooping of the colors at Cranston Street Armory. Col William S. Baker led in Col Philip Bodell's absence. companions included Jannitto, Stone, Butterworth, Collins, Sinclair, Bruno, Merchant, Troiano, and McCauley as the 88th Army Band played. Guests wore gowns and colonial garb amid red and white banners as dancing followed the governor's address and reception into the night.

Jr Woman's Club Plans Y Day Camp Shelter Project

Bristol Junior Woman's Club selects construction of a shelter for the Bristol Y M C A Day Camp on Ho Island as the proceeds beneficiary from Follies Of 1959. The special meeting chose the project amid plans for a show April 16 to 18 produced by Jerome H Gargull Co. of NY.

Patrolman Frank Almeida Hurt In Town Auto Crash

Patrolman Frank Almeida was seriously injured Saturday when his cruiser was rear ended by a speeding car. He and driver Cosmo Mancieri were ejected through the rear window as the car toppled. David B. Aguiar and three friends were treated for minor injuries. Almeida with two broken ribs and spinal curvature is in good condition.

YMCA to Present Awards at Annual Meeting in January

The YMCA annual meeting and banquet will feature the Outstanding Citizen Award for 1958. Awards for the outstanding boy and girl of the year will be presented. John Franklin Long will be the principal speaker, returning from the Philippines after five and a half years where he observed Magsaysay's rise and new programs taking shape.

Budget Deadlines Set for Bristol Town Departments

All department heads must submit budgets by the 15th per the Bristol town financial contract. Budgets are sent to the budget committee, town clerk, and town council. After January 15 the committee and council meet with department heads to review requests.

Cold Weather Delays Highway Dept Building Project

Joseph P Quartaro highway surveyor says frigid conditions stall work on the highway department building. Six one foot trenches done, a portion of the foundation poured. Unless weather improves, remaining foundation and floor remain at a standstill, delaying completion and start by A A Nunes Co. total job cost to $6,200 with the highway department portion around $1,200.
