Private Anthony DeCastro 19 son of Mr and Mrs Gabriel DeCastro of 209 Franklin Street joined Bristol's Reserve Corps Battery D 456th A W Bn seeking a tempo rary active duty stint then return to civilian life. He aimed to advance through basic training at Fort Dix for six weeks before reverting to reserves.
Howard L. House, county Boy Scout commissioner, will be presented for re election at the Bris tol County District scout leaders annual meeting tonight. The White Rail Riding Club hosts dinner at 6 30 p m with speaker Richard Chase of Providence. Henry Luther chairs the nominating committee and Dr Oscar M Mersman presides as awards for scout officials are announced.
The Kingsmen Bugle and Drum Corps launch their second annual Honorary Membership drive on Thursday, aiming for 1000 honorary members in 1953. Last year’s enrollees will receive renewal cards and a 1952 financial report. new members are encouraged as the corps marks its 40th anniversary in March. The Drum Corps Committee led by Paul Vona will run the drive with help from corps members, the men’s committee, and the Women’s Auxiliary.

Bristol Civil Defense Director Wilfred F. Tetreault unveiled a plan for a home first aid kit for every household. The kit follows government recommendations and may be sourced via the local Civil Defense organization or through participating drug stores with substitutions allowed for unavailable items. Water purification tablets are highlighted as essential and available at Sansone Pharmacy. Citizens can obtain kits for three dollars down with the balance on delivery.
