Walter S. DeWolf wins the position as Commander for the Delta Lambda chapter of Sigma Nu at Brown University. He is a senior and Brown BA candidate, son of Mrs. De Wolf and the late Mr. John B. DeWolf of 35 Church Street Bristol. DeWolf previously served as treasurer and as an officer of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers on campus. He also belongs to the Brown Christian Association.
The town council authorized postal clerk Biagino Massa to renumber streets from the end of current house delivery to the Warren line including Hope Street and adjacent streets. Using town plats, Massa will assign odd numbers on one side and even on the other at a cost not exceeding 100 dollars. Postmaster Coggeshall said the survey shows heavy population but city delivery lacks authorization until renumbering is done.
The Kingsmen Bugle and Drum Corps start a town wide paper drive Saturday January 24 at 10 a.m. Proceeds support the uniform fund per manager George R. Fish.
Twenty five fourth and fifth graders from Reynolds School tested a tape recorder in teaching at a Bristol PTA event in Reynolds Auditorium. Teachers Edward Travers and Dominic N Raiola guided students in social studies and reading aids respectively.
The Sunshine Society Bris tol branch holds its annual bridge on March 3 at 8 p m to support shut ins and needy families. At the Tuesday meeting at Mrs Salvatore Massano's home the 1952 report listed Easter Christmas and Thanksgiving tokens and meals provided, clothing, bedding, and transportation funded.
Council members questioned Arthur B. Genthner on the Capone injury claim and sewer overrun delays. Genthner pledged road repairs on Cole Street and Fox Hill venue within allotted funds, and admitted oversight in handling the claim during last night’s session.
