Sewage Disposal Problem Prompts Town Meeting Debate

A town meeting sponsored by the Town Council discussed the State Board of Pollution of Waters order and two main options. The first is a $111,000 preliminary sewage plan likely acceptable for twenty years, the second a $287,000 original plan with a main outlet in Mount Hope Bay. Debate over filtration station locations at Constitution Street and Wood and High streets drew opposition due to land value concerns. Attendees were scarce, underscoring public apathy despite the issue’s importance.
