Committees Appointed To Plan Scout Events

Postmaster Daniel W Cogge announces subcommittees to plan six major Boy Scout events in Bristol and Bristol County for the 35th anniversary. Ice Executive to Speak at Rotary Meeting Tomorrow

R T Wilbur executive secretary of the New England Ice Dealers Association will address the Rotary Club tomorrow. The weekly bulletin also tributes George Leighton who died last week noting his faithful Rotary service and generous help to worthy deeds.

Kearney Post Holds Short Monthly Meeting

About 20 members of Kearney Post No 6 American Legion met in the post home on Franklin Street for the monthly gathering despite poor weather. With Commander Norman R Garvin absent, Ralph M DeLeo presided. the session lasted 30 minutes, the shortest in post history. New members Douglas B Baker Stephen A Belancik Paul L Stanzione and Sidney F Cochrane were admitted. William T Cashin resigned from the executive committee with a successor to be elected in February.

Storms keep highway dept very busy after fierce storm

The town’s highway department reports heavy storm work with sand and plow crews clearing streets. Crews reduced 125 to 25 yards of slush, cleared catch basins, and prepared barrels of sand for resident aid. Six new truck tires were purchased, and public utilities faced minor burdens with bus service disrupted in Providence.

Bristol Parents Announce New Year Birth in Providence

Mr and Mrs Anthony Recupero of 55 Bradford Street announce the birth of a son on New Year’s Day at the Lying-In Hospital Providence. Mrs Recupero is the former Mary Jacqueline Anania. This is the first birth reported for 1948 by Bristol parents.
