Nearly a thousand attended the YMCA Open House featuring the first Holiday Basketball Tournament finals. In the men's division Ascoli Esso Juniors beat Barrington Townies 29 to 12, led by Pete Quito and Ronnie Rene. in the women's division Barrington Eagles defeated Bristol Coltsters 37 to 26. Awards were presented by Dr. Samuel D Clark and Mrs. Frederick S Bartlett.

Three cars crash with no injuries reported
Seven people in three cars escaped harm after a collision on Hope Street near Franklin Street Thursday night just before 11:30 pm. Manuel Viera Jr 18 stopped to wipe snow from his windshield when Alfred DiSano 23 rear ended him and George Gibree unknown age hit DiSano from behind. No injuries were reported by patrolmen Téxeira and McCall.
