Newly elected officers of the Bristol Portuguese-American Women's Civic League were installed at ceremonies in Columbia Hall Wood Street Col umbia Hall Mrs Manuel C Lima Jr Fall River officiated with Miss Irene Vieira as master of ceremonies The program featured soprano solos by Evangeline Paiva a comic sketch by Alice Sousa and piano accompaniment by Emily Xavier Bouquets were given to Mrs Lima and newly installed president Mrs Joseph A Almeida, while Miss Vieira received a silver pendant.

Longtime Providence Institution for Savings treasurer LeBaron Bradford dies

LeBaron Bradford of Bristol dies at Truesdale Hospital Fall River at age 84 after an illness of hiccups that progressed to pneumonia. A Bristol native, he served 64 years as treasurer of the Providence Institution for Savings and never missed a day at the bank. Funeral services are set for Trinity Church with burial at Juniper Hill Cemetery.

Churches Unite For Cappelli Recital In Bristol

The State Street Methodist and First Congregational Churches cancel evening services Sunday to host Signor Marie Cappelli at 4 o clock in De Wolt Memorial Chapel. Cappelli, Italian American tenor, has sung at memorials for Harding and Wilson and won a prize from the Musical Academy of Caserta. He is noted for Italian folk songs and plantation tunes.

Dr I Dean Makowski Returns to Bellevue Hospital New York

Dr I Dean Makowski returns to New York to begin a two year appointment in urology at Bellevue Hospital. A 1930 Jefferson Medical College graduate, he then served six months in medicine at Charles V Chapin Hospital Providence and one and a half years in Bellevue Medicine and Surgery. He later completed a three month surgery residency at the Hospital for Ruptured and Crippled New York.

Rotary Club Awards Medal for School Progress

The Rotary Club will present a yearly medal titled The Rotary Medal for Effort and Progress to the pupil in local public schools showing the greatest improvement in work. President F. R.
