Officers for the coming year were elected at the annual meeting of the Ladies Benevolent Society of St Michael's Church in the Holmes House yesterday. Reports were read, Miss Marth Duma resigned as directress, and refreshments were served after the business session.

Ouelette Held on Embezzlement Charge in Warren Case

Omer Ouellette 34 of 18 Dyer street Warren is arraigned Sunday on a embezzlement charge. Bail set at 10000. unable to post, he is committed to Bristol County Jail for appearance next Monday in Fifth District Court. He was arrested Christmas morning in Memphis Tennessee and admitted identity. Police retrieved him with two officers returning to town Sunday. Ouellette, married with two children, worked as a bookkeeper for H H Lawson Co Bristol until he vanished November 19 while allegedly en route to Springfield Mass to audit for Chevrolet Motor Car Co. He allegedly misused more than 5000 in funds.

Firemen called out twice on New Year’s Eve

Local firemen were summoned twice on New Year’s Eve on Church street. The first alarm followed by 11 pm for a greenhouse fire started by hot ashes near Narragansett avenue fence, causing minor damage. At 12:15 am a general alarm prompted crews to tackle a kitchen fire in an unoccupied 14 story Weeden estate residence, confined to the kitchen. insurance status unavailable.

Auto Collision injures none. court date set for Desmaris

A car driven by Archie Desmaris of 10 Baker Street struck a curb and mounted the sidewalk on a Sunday morning near High Street and Bradford Street. The two front wheels were damaged beyond repair. Desmaris must appear at the January 9 session of the Fifth District Court to answer a traffic violation charge.

Budget Commission To Hold Public Hearing Tomorrow
