Warren Fall River Rail Service Discontinued and Bus Substitution

All train service between Warren and Fall River will be discontinued starting Monday January 4. The New England Transportation Company will run highway service connecting Providence and Bristol trains at Warren. fourteen weekday round trips will operate between Providence and Bristol with certain stops omitted including Kettle Point Silver Spring Pomham Bullocks Point Nayatt and North Warren. No Sunday service will continue between Providence and Bristol.

Captain McCaw Dismissed Myths Of Russia’s System

Captain Samuel G. McCaw, former Bristol resident turned American Export Lines officer, discussed his years of experience in Southern Russia. He argued U S trade credit policies hinder growth, noted Soviet aims to surpass the United States, and described strict police power and travel limitations observed by tourists and crew. He cited a crewman jailed briefly and losing weight after return.

First New Year Fire Destroys Shed on Fox Hill

The early morning blaze destroyed a tool shed owned by Frank Perry on Fox Hill Avenue. Four local fire companies arrived with 800 feet of hose, estimating damage at $15 and suspecting youths celebrating New Year set the fire. Assistant Chief Moses M Moore led the response in Chief Anderson's absence. The recall was at 658 am.

Luther Elected Chancellor of E of P Knights of Pythias

Charles E Luther of this town was elected Chancellor Commander of Burnside Lodge No 34 Knights of Pythias at the annual election in Grand Army Hall. Other officers named include Vice Chancellor Russell T Chafee and Master of Work Henry W Lather. The newly elected officers will be inducted next Tuesday by District Deputy Grand Chancellor Charles Callan.

Soldiers' Home Veterans Enjoy Pleasing Program

Veterans of three wars at the Soldiers' Home heard a musical program Tuesday staged by Ladies Auxiliary Units from Richard Dennis Cranston Scituate American Legion posts. Kids performed songs and dances while officials presented a bag of tobacco candy fruit and cigarettes to each veteran.

Girl Who Was Not Satisfied Featured in Sunday School Play

The First Congregational Church belated Christmas party program included a playlet The Girl Who Was Not Satisfied by Miss Gladys Osterberg s Sunday School class. Over 85 children performed with solos and recitations by Eunice Marshman Sally Church Marion Munro and others in TeWolf Memorial Chapel.

New Year Celebrations Light Up Bristol With Bells and Dances

Bristol welcomed 1932 with Trinity Church chimes and church bells, followed by a New Year's Eve to noon program. George Fish shifted from Auld Lang Syne to America as fireworks and confetti filled the town. Italian and Portuguese serenaders visited homes, while Battery C held a dance at the armory and a large dinner-dance occurred at the Hotel Belvedere. A Rex-Parshley open house, church services, and a New Year's social at the Gutteras House kept the festivities going into the morning hours.
