Town Council sets 354000 in running costs and bonds

The Town Council completed its recommendations to the forthcoming financial town meeting to be held Monday March 17. The package includes 354000 for department running expenses and bond interest, plus six resolutions on a sewage disposal plant a World War veterans memorial building zoning highway projects and a new public school building.

Girl Struck by Bus in Wood Street Incident

Florence Jordan, daughter of Arthur F. Jordan of 27 Cole Street, was struck by a New England Transportation Co bus on Wood Street near Cole Street yesterday noon. Police report says she darted into the street while crossing from west to east and suffered cuts and bruises but no serious injuries. Bus operator Hector J. Cournoyer of 367 Knight Street Providence swerved to avoid her but hit her on the right side of the bumper. She was aided to Waitham Perry’s store where Dr Angelo DeAngelo treated her.

Obituaries for Ernest Good and Mary E Munro

Ernest Good, in his 30th year, is reported dead in this town on February 28. In Newport Rhode Island on February 2 Mrs Mary E Burnham Munro, 74, wife of the late William J Munro, died. Rotary Frolic Burlesque Show at Guiteras School

The Rotary Club hosts a two hour burlesque evening in the Guiteras Memorial School auditorium to benefit the Scholarship Fund. Nelson Terry stars as tenor with a trio and a cast including Harriet Kinder Helen Keenan Emma Rounds. The hotel dining room set features blackface waiters and acts such as Your Past and Sea of Nonsense.

Lenten Services Open With Rev Elwood Worcester in Boston

The community Lenten series begins at 745 PM on March 6 at State Street Methodist Church with Rev Elwood Worcester DC, longtime rector of Emmanuel Church. The Emmanuel Movement emphasis on Christian healing guides the series, aided by co operation from four churches and a joint choir. Further preacher announcements soon expected.
