Rhode Island Christian Endeavor elects officers at Cranston church

At the state convention Rev Herbert D Graetz was chosen president and Miss Persis M Dolloff was elected corresponding secretary. The gathering Saturday evening at the Cranston Street Roger Williams Baptist church was attended by several members from the Congregational church in town.

Bristol Chapter DAR Observes Guest Day at Belvedere Hotel

Bristol Chapter D A R held its annual Guest Day at the Belvedere Hotel on Saturday afternoon with 75 members and guests. Regent Miss Cora M Hill welcomed attendees as John W Haley Rhode Island Historian spoke on Revolutionary events with stereopticon views.

Washington Ball a Great Social Triumph at State Armory

The 82nd Washington Ball in the State Armory drew a large crowd for an all night event celebrating George Washington’s birthday. Governor Norman S Case and Mrs Case were absent due to a relative’s illness. Adjutant General and Mrs Arthur C Cole represented the state. The Bristol Train of Artillery hosted a formal grand march, with Gov escort and many dignitaries among the guests, accompanied by a BTCA Military Band and dancing appearances by Providence dancers.

Rotary Frolic Nights At Guiter Memorial School Auditorium

The Rotary Club hosts Frolics on Monday and Tuesday March 3 and 4 at Guiter Memorial School auditorium. Proceeds fund a yearly education grant for a worthy local student. The show features Rotarian talent and outside entertainment including a two act sketch A Sea of Nonsense, a Fall River tenor Nelson Terry solos, and a Providence trio Harriet Kinder, Emma Rounds, and Helen Keenan with members of the Monday Morning Musical Club.

Inter-Company rifle match won by Company A

Company A defeated Batters D by ten points at the Artillery indoor range. A’s three position scores were close with 199 195 in standing 237 2340 and 247 244. Corp Arthur Le Casse of Batters D led with 141 of 150. Three shooters tied for second: Sergio St Angelo Priv to St Angelo of Company A and Pris Walter Munro of Batters D.

Fire at St Josephs Hospital Hospitalizes Bristol Residents

A Sunday morning blaze at St Josephs Hospital Providence caused about 200000 in damage but no deaths. Rescuers evacuated 148 patients, including four Bristol residents Edward Saucier Bridget Haberlin James Scott Sherry Avenue and Maria Silvaria who were among those moved to Rhode Island Hospital. One heart-troubled woman died after being admitted to Rhode Island Hospital yesterday morning.

Casson Ends Event With Colonial Orchestra Performance

The event closed with fine music by the Colonial Orchestra under Harold Sheffers. Souvenir programs in buff and blue with red cords were handed out. The committee featured Capt George W Boutilher as chairman and included Corp Albert Johnson, May James J Drumm, and privates Edward A Currier Jr, Phares W Frazer, Joseph J Haines among others.

Lions Club Washington Party At Belvedere

The Bristol Lions Club hosted a Washington party at the Belvedere with over 100 members and guests. A dinner, remarks, songs, and dancing followed, and the club voted a 25 dollar donation to St Joseph's Hospital for rehabilitation after a fire.

Women’s Relief Corps visit Soldiers' Home in Rhode Island

About 80 visitors from across Rhode Island attended a Sunday afternoon program at the Soldiers’ Home in Providence. Rev H D Graetz spoke on contributions of Washington Lincoln Roosevelt and Wilson, with vocal and piano numbers and gifts to veterans celebrating birthdays.

Patriotic Exercises Mark Anniversaries at Colt High School

The Bristol Rotary Club staged patriotic exercises Sunday in Colt Memorial High School auditorium honoring George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Judge Edward L. Leahy presided. George F O'Shaunessy gave a stirring address. Readings covered Washington and Lincoln, with music, recitations, and a Boy Scouts flag story. Benediction by Rev Dr R J Chrystie ended the program.

Auto thefts report multiple cars missing in Warren area

A sedan stolen from Anthony E. Coelho at 25 Thompson Avenue was found abandoned on Maple Avenue Warren and the Bristol police notified the owner. Edward J Higgins of Warren saw his car taken Sunday from in front of his home and it was recovered on Woodlawn Avenue. Evie Sherman of 45 Cottage Street reported her car stolen from near High and Constitution streets shortly before 7 PM yesterday.
