Warren Defeats Colt In Close Armory Showdown

Warren high defeats Colt high 17 to 13 Friday night at the Jefferson street armory in Warren. The teams are tied in the Interscholastic conference class B race and may meet again in East Providence. Colt’s Gorham and Sylvia and Warren’s Healy starred in a rough, defense oriented game.

Successful fair closes hosted by Princesse Elena Lodge

The eight week long fair in Academy Hall Wood Street by Principessa Elena Lodge Sons of Italy ended Saturday night with over 300 attendees. The bazaar was financially successful as booths were well patronized and dancing music by Rosie Merrymakers Orchestra. Prizes were awarded to winners and the arrangements were led by Adamo Mancini as chairman along with a long committee including Pasquale Coppolo Gabriele Accardi Michael Vitiello Joseph Fusco Ralph Amendola and others.

Woman's Relief Corps to Host Chicken Salad Supper

Babbitt's Woman's Relief Corps No 19 held a semi monthly meeting in Grand Army Hall. The executive committee chaired by Mrs Octhel Mott voted to hold a chicken salad supper Thursday March 1 from 530 to 730 PM in Grand Army Hall. Harold W. Baker pastor of the First Baptist Church gave a talk on Washingtons life and Mrs Addie Fo Gale read a Kipling piece. Cookies and coffee were served during the local hour.

Entertainments at Soldiers' Home by Veterans Groups

Members of the Soldiers' Home Committee of the Woman's Relief Corps and the United Spanish War Veterans of Rhode Island visited the Soldiers' Home Sunday, presenting programs, distributing tobacco, and celebrating eight January February birthdays. The Spanish War Veterans featured an orchestra, piano solos, and vocal selections, with officials such as Galen Nichols and George H Davis attending. The program included readings, remarks by veterans' leaders, a sketch entitled Murder Will Out, and a Star Spangled Banner finale by the assembly.

Pancake Supper Supports Church Renovation Fund

Delicious pancakes with syrup baked sausages apples and coffee were served from 5 to 7 pm in the vestry of the First Baptist Church by World Wide Guild members. Mrs Harold W Baker led the supper tables with four assistants. nursery and CWC members tended younger guests. Vestry decorations featured royal blue and white, and guild caps and aprons were worn by all members.

Firemen answer two alarms for twin house and grass blaze

Volunteers responded to two alarms on Sunday. At 10:10 a.m. they fought a kitchen and east bedroom fire at 1 Bay View Avenue likely from a defective chimney. A recall sounded at 11:40 a.m. The second alarm at 6:05 p.m. sent them to Metacom Avenue, where a small grass fire was put out by neighbors before any fire crew arrived.
