Explosion at Dr. Church’s Laboratory Wrecks Office
An explosion in Dr. Howard W. Church’s laboratory on the second floor of the Easterbrooks Block at Hope and State caused his setup to be blown across the room and singed his hair. Firemen contained the blaze quickly with chemical sprays. damage was limited to charred woodwork and a few personal losses. The cause remains undetermined, with a nitrous oxide tank leak suspected but deemed unlikely. Loss is insured.
