75th Anniversary of St Michael's Ladies Benevolent Society
The Ladies' Benevolent Society of St Michael's Church celebrated 75 years with 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Holy Communion services and a historical address by Rev Anson B. Howard. Bishop Perry and Bishop Sanford attended. Mrs Benjamin M MacDougall reviewed the society's lineage from 1822 to 1849 and noted long service by leaders including Rev George L. Locke. Refreshments for 250 followed in Holmes House and an 8 p.m. service featured missionary remarks. The society now counts 97 members.
