At a Tuesday night meeting the council amended a 11 p m closing rule to 12 midnight after a Bristol Chamber of Commerce request. Special constable Henry Beck was appointed. Several zoning and land matters were tabled or referred, and 1923 unpaid bills totaled 2013.89. A Wednesday special session laid out financial town meeting allocations for 1924 across departments and services.

Bristol trains of artillery host the 76th Washington Ball at the armory marking 148 years since the command’s founding with grand march at 9 30 pm and a printed dance program. Bristol Chapter D A R held a 1 30 luncheon at Hotel Belvedere with Colonial attire and a toast to George Washington. Local schools bank and post office closed for the day along with the Rogers Free Library and Industrial Trust Company.

Bristol scouts from four troops hike to the east shore for open fire meals and tests. Monthly troop inspections follow next week with schedule for Troop 1 Tuesday through Troop 3 Friday.
