Tonight the Bristol Train of Artillery holds its 32nd Washington Ball with elaborate preparations. Governor and many military officers are to attend. A concert is planned from 8 to 9, intermission selos by A Connery, and open festivities mark the event.
Readable fragment notes a Washington anniversary ball hosted by the Tram of Artillery with expectations the event will be lavish, though details continue on the fifth page.
Town Council last evening voted to include 32 items totaling 319 347 50 in the list of recommendations to the March 17 financial town meeting. Adjournment to next Wednesday aims to finalize allocations including fire department water rates and Memorial Day and garbage collection funding.
Rotary and Lion clubs visit National India Rubber Co Bristol for factory tour and resumed relations. Guests tour departments, hear talks on Bristol employment, payrolls, safety upgrades and community programs, then attend a banquet with performances by plant employees and local entertainers.
In New York City on Wednesday the Mt Hope Bridge Company named Rudolph F Haffenreffer Jr of this town to its board of directors and to the executive committee Assistant United States Attorney General Charles P. Sisson said the governor noted his close bridge proximity and Rhode Island industry ties with Haffenreffer seen as beneficial for the bridge’s interests.
Rev Cyril Harris will officiate morning services at St Michael's Church in the absence of Rector Rev AR Parshley, who is expected to return sometime next week.
With the Colt Memorial Ambulance laid up for repairs there will be no service interruption. The Richard Magee Ambulance Service and the Truesdale Hospital Ambulance Service will handle all calls day or night for Providence Falls River and nearby hospital cases. Doctors will use these agencies if needed and trips will be paid from the Colt Ambulance Funds.
The Rotary Club will hold public patriotic exercises Sunday evening in the Colt Memorial High School auditorium to observe the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The Rotary committee has prepared a program for the observance.
Former Congressman George F. O Shaughnessy will headline a civic program in Providence with prayers by Rev Herbert D Graetz Judge Edward L Leahy presiding The event features soprano solos by Anna K Knowlton and Aida A Connery readings of Washington Gettysburg and Lincoln addresses Boy Scouts illustrate The History of the Flag and the audience will join in patriotic songs.
