Fire at N I Rubber Co. Cement Room Fire Damages Factory

A fire at the National India Rubber Company factory caused about 1000 dollars in damage to the cement room. The blaze, started by a naphtha cement can, set off sprinklers on the third floor and spread to 12 other cans. Manuel Xavier, worker on Thompson Avenue, suffered burns to face and hands and was treated at the factory hospital before returning home.

The Republican Town Committee nominated George Howe for Third Councilman and Edward A Currier for School Committee after withdrawals by Miss Julia A Herreshoff and Rey Francisco G Vieira. Automobile Accident Injures Veteran Near Home

Robert H Bullock 81 a World War veteran and commander of the Babbitt Post G A R was struck by a car driven by Thomas E Johnson as he crossed Hope street at 5 PM He suffered a compound fracture of the right leg and injuries to the right hand He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Colt Memorial ambulance and had just alighted from a New England Transportation Company bus after returning from Cranston Worsted Mills Charles L Sanford aided him to safety and first aid was given by Drs John Lake and Alfred M Merriman before hospital transport
