Scouts of the First Bristol Troop staged a G W Night observing George Washington’s birthday with reregistration and inspection in Scout Hall. Dramatizations, honor patrols, and a close score between Black Hawk Panther Flaming Arrow and Bob Cat marked the evening. Plans include a Providence pool swim and Scout Hall renovations for the 35th anniversary. leaders and committee members listed.

Local man fined for theft of radios in Bristol case

Manuel Silvia 30 of 28 Garfield Avenue arraigned in Fifth District Court on larceny charged for stealing two radios valued at 50 dollars from Charles J Falugo and Son Furniture Store. He pleaded guilty and was fined 25 dollars plus costs by Clerk Emilio Iannuccillo. Silvia was arrested by Providence police after leaving a pawnshop on South Main Street and was jailed in Bristol.

Bristol Town Team to Face Newport All Stars in Benefit Hoops Game

The Bristol March of Dimes drive ends March 1 with a charity basketball doubleheader at Andrews Gym at 8 p.m. The Bristol Town Team, coached by Marty Biancuzzo, faces the Newport All Stars featuring Jackie Allan Dick Hole and Dino Martin. Proceeds go to the Infantile Paralysis Fund.

Rev Irving Evans Named Rector Of St Mark's Fall River

The Rev Irving Andrew Evans, rector and headmaster of St Andrew's School in West Barrington since 1937, will become rector of St Mark's Church in Fall River with duties starting March 1 and active service March 7. Evans increased St Andrew's enrollment, staff, and courses and oversaw construction and memorial chapel projects during his tenure. He has been a frequent visitor at St Michael's Church and is seen as moving to a strong parish with 600 to 700 communicants in a fine stone church setting.

Narrow Escape From Atlantic Hurricane Aboard 40-Foot Yawl

The Enterprise log recounts a Bristol to Manasquam passage in October 1937 during a hurricane. Off Barnegat and Manasquam Inlets the 40-foot yawl fought a gale, jammed helm, and torn sails, narrowly avoiding the coast. Mr Horton of New York survived with the skipper and crew after 10 days and $500 in repairs.

August Bus Lines Resume Service Through Bristol County

Bus service resumed Monday morning in Bristol County after a fire last Feb. 10 destroyed several AB C buses.
