Washington Ball marks eighty third Bristol Train event
The eighty third Washington Ball of the Bristol Train of Artillery drew several hundred guests to the State Armory. Officers from New England and the state joined in a military themed evening with colorful gowns, flags, and a formal grand march led by Brig Gen Herbert Ro Dean and Mrs Norman Merriman. The event featured a fine concert by the Military Band, elaborate decorations, and a reception committee including Col A M Merriman and Mayor William F Eddy.

A New England Tel and Tel Co project laid a 4000 foot submarine cable across Mount Hope Bay linking Bristol Ferry and Portsmouth.
