School Committee Proposes $110500 for Schools and $12200 for Pay
The School Committee voted unanimously at a special meeting to ask the Town Council for a $110,500 appropriation for public schools next fiscal year and $12,200 extra for teachers salaries. They noted last year’s $92,000 appropriation and that part of the funds would cover two new boilers at Valley School and repairs totaling $5,000. They also urged $500 for the Teachers Retirement Fund and transfer of land title to the Colt Memorial High School property for school use.

Hart matriarch marks 91st birthday in town home
Mrs Rebecca FE Hart widow of William S Hart celebrated the 91st anniversary of her birth yesterday at 25 Lincoln avenue. Relatives and friends called, she received visitors despite advanced age. Born Feb 18 1833, she lived in town her whole life, married 1848 to William Shepard Hart, who died 1893. She has two children, a granddaughter, and a great grandson.

The funeral is set for 2 PM tomorrow at John Barrett’s Grand Avenue home in Providence.
