Four Bristol youths left for the Samp son Air Force Base in New York to begin basic training. Recruits are Walter Belmore 29 John Benevides 20 Frank Pires 18 and Roger Dubois 18. They enlisted January 18 and depart today. Benevides and Belmore are former Battery C members.

Snowstorm halts Bristol industry and slows travel
A late Sunday snowstorm that followed rain and sleet left Bristol with a seven inch blanket. Highway crews under Reynolds J Northup cleared roads at 2:30 a.m. plowing and grading for morning traffic. About 10 to 12 percent of workers, roughly 1000 people, were absent though schools were on vacation. Two minor car accidents were reported with slight damage. Cleanup costs for hired equipment totaled about $500.

Bull Hall Leads UN POW Camp Duties on Koje-do Island
Lt William D Hall known as Bull Hall of Wardwell Lumber assists in running the United Nations Prisoner of War Camp at Koje-do Korea. The camp holds about 155000 inmates including 35000 civilian internees 20000 Chinese POWs and the rest North Korean. Koje-do is 32 by 20 miles four hours from Pusan by boat with two USS freighters making daily runs. Meals average five pound weight gain per prisoner with a daily rice ration of 109 tons and 2800 calories per person. The camp operates under the Geneva Conventions with frequent Red Cross inspection and full prisoner clothing and equipment issued.
