Washington Bicentennial Ball Honors Bristol Artillery
The Bristol Train of Artillery held a Tuesday evening event at the Naval Armory on Lincoln's Birthday marking its 142nd anniversary and 70th annual ball. About 300 attended and 97 couples led by Col. Merton A. Cheesman, Miss Betty McLaughlin, and Col. John H. Bailey Jr. received medals for rifle practice. The event featured a grand march, military guests from nearby towns, a Crown Orchestra, and an 8 to 8:30 concert, with decorated drill shed and embossed programs.

Schools Reopen After Coal Delivery for Bristol Students
Superintendent Thomas H. DeCoudres announced public schools would reopen Monday after last week's closure for the smaller grades. W F Williams awarded 15 tons of coal to the School Committee, to be distributed to coalless schools from Staples Coal Company. A barge Dendron carrying 1800 tons to Bristol sank near Cape Henry, limiting in transit coal. remaining cargo will be split to Bristol schools as available.
