New Industrial Relations Dept christened at N I R Co Bristol

About 130 foremen and foreladies gathered at the National India Rubber Company plant in Bristol for the christening of the newly established Industrial Relations Department. Vice President George Schlosser led a luncheon at the O Wolf Inn with talks by Hopkins and Robinson on labor relations and employee welfare. The event highlighted harmony and the human element amid rapid plant growth and a rising payroll of 62 000 dollars weekly.

School Committee Receives Teachers Salary Petition and Reports

The School Committee met last evening and received a petition from grade school teachers seeking a minimum $150 raise. It noted past raises from $420 to $500 and laid the petition over for investigation. The annual superintendent report was accepted for publication. Directors approved bills totaling $5146.28. Superintendent De Coudres was authorized to attend the National Convention in Atlantic City. The Naval Armory was secured for Colt Cadets drills through April 1. Raymond P Smith resigned as janitor at John Post Reynolds School. his pay had risen to $65. Myers B Austin was hired as his successor.

Lincoln's Day Exercises at Reynolds School

Lincoln's Day program held at 2 pm in the Reynolds School auditorium with G AR and veterans arriving from G AR Hall led by the Colt Cadets. The program included invocation by Rex A B Howard, songs, remarks by John Holton, a speech by Charles A Walsh, and benediction by Rev A B Howard.
