Manuel B Medeiros 20 died after an auto accident in Swansea Friday night while his companion John F Sousa 32 of Second School Street remained on danger list at Truesdale Hospital. Sousa has possible skull fracture while Medeiros suffered multiple severe injuries. The truck driver Arthur W Brown of Foisette Point was charged with drunken driving and improper operation.
The son of Mr and Mrs Frank V Medeiros was born October 14 1921 in Bristol. He attended local public schools and worked for Bristol Manufacturing Company. Besides his parents he is survived by one sister and three brothers.
Dry goods stock valued at 7000 dollars was destroyed when a fire at 57 Bradford Street broke out Friday night. Tenants on the building’s upper floors fled as flames spread, aided by bystanders from the theater crowd.
