Bristol Chronicle of a 1878 July Fourth Celebration
An 1878 account recalls Major Raymond H Perry as chief marshal leading the Bristol parade at 10 AM with a strict staff and famed era figures. Governor Van Zandt and memories of Washington with Governor Bradford mix old town lore, church bells, fires, and maps from 1681 to 1855, noting a 1851 court and local notables like Bishop Griswold and Captain James D'Wolfe.
