Bristol Faces Higher Cost If Metropolitan Sewer Adopted
Bristol Sewer Commission and Prof. H K Barrows say Metropolitan Sewer Plan could cost the town at least twice its own system, with annual expenses rising from about 35 000 to 60 000 or more. Funeral Held for James Wilfred Carnes in Bristol
The Bristol resident James Wilfred Carnes aged 74 or 75 died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon after accepting a Christmas basket from Kearney Post American Legion. The funeral was at 2 pm from his home 53 State street with Rev Anthony R Parshley officiating. He leaves his widow Lillian Carnes a son Thomas of Bridgewater MA and a stepson Benjamin of Bristol.

Bristol observed Christmas Day with church services and family reunions, as many needy families benefited from baskets distributed by local groups led by Kearney Post No. 6 American Legion which handed out about 200 baskets. The Bristol Boy Scouts gave 2500 toys to 425 children, while homes for the aged and soldiers’ home received Christmas dinners and donations. Bright outdoor lights and decorated windows drew much praise.
