Midnight Christmas Services Planned in Local Churches

Catholic and Episcopal churches schedule midnight observances for Christmas Eve with elaborate musical programs. St Marys St Elizabeths Our Lady of Mt Carmel and Trinity Churches will host services tonight drawing large crowds. Additional services follow tomorrow morning including two at St Michaels Church.

Etchings by George A Gale Exhibit Draws Visitors

An exhibit of about 50 etchings by George A Gale was held at his home on Pearse Avenue last week and drew many admirers. He will keep the show open daily 2 to 8 pm this week to accommodate holiday preparations. Pieces depict whaleships, whaling scenes, marine life, and shipboard labor with noted vitality and detail.

Christmas Baskets Fund Seeks Extra Fifty Dollars

Kearney Post No 6 relief drive delivers over fifty baskets today while still needing $50 to avoid a deficit. The appeal asks for last minute gifts from noncontributors and lists past acknowledgments totaling $282.60 including individuals and organizations such as Bristol Union Brotherhood and Mrs Eugenia T Herreshoff.

The National India Rubber Company's basketball five beat West Warwick Town Team 29 to 24 on the YMCA court. Eddie Flanagan led with five first half baskets, while Carlo Bisbano Tony Sylvia and Billie Maxwell added two each. Dwyer top scored for the losers with four baskets and a foul.
