Freeman's All Star Team Beats Bristol Y M C A 24 23

Freeman's team of All Star players defeated the Bristol Y M C A squad 24 to 23 at the YMCA gym. Brown University players featured for the visitors while Bristol kept the score tight in a late starting game played over four ten minute periods.

Old Folks Concert at Colt High On Bristol Mothers Club

Bristol Mothers Club presented a successful Old Folks Concert at Colt High School on Wednesday under Miss Mary Bolton directing a chorus of 25 in old time costumes. The program opened with Dixie as the chorus entered from the lobby. Vera Stockard performed Penelope's Christmas Dance, in costume, from the Providence Players Club. A brief Mothers Club meeting re-elected Mrs A M Merriman as president and elected Mrs Thomas H De Coudres as vice president.

Statement by Mrs Wilson on Warren estate rights

Mrs Elizabeth H. Wilson asserts in the Phoenix letters that F B Wilson cannot mortgage or convey any portion of John F Warren property. She says John M Warren and John F Warren's wife did not sign away her interest. The Probate Court granted Julia M Warren dower rights and a parcel of land and buildings, with Julia served as guardian and administratrix of John F Warren.

Fifth paralysis death in Castro infant dies at home

The fifth death from infantile paralysis occurred Tuesday evening as 18 month old Manuel Castro, son of Joseph and Jessie Castro, died at 132 Bay View avenue. It is the second death from the malady within a week. The private funeral was held Wednesday morning and burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Town Council Names James Holmes and Gallagher to Permanent Police

The Town Council elected James Holmes and Gallagher to permanent police patrolmen roles at the semi monthly meeting on Wednesday evening. Holmes, a Morris Brothers ice dealer, has served eight years and holds Fire Engineer duties plus Knights of Pythias rank. Gallagher, son of James Gallagher, worked for National India Rubber and belonged to Company C, Second Regiment. The council left truck housing to the Board of Fire Engineers and deferred a Farm Bureau donation request to the next meeting. It also noted James W. Franklin declined to reconsider his tax assessor resignation, citing lack of time.

Boston Leaders to Speak at Bristol League Meeting

Charles I. French of the Rhode Island League to Enforce Peace arranged a Bristol mass meeting at the Pastime Theatre on January 4. Speakers include Brown University President Faunce and ex governors Walsh or McCall. The League advocates a postwar league of nations led by the United States.

It Pays to Advertise A Bracelets Theft Confession

A nine year old boy and two companions offered a gold wrist bracelet for five cents at the Phoenix Office. The boy claimed to find it near Colt Memorial High School and later confessed to stealing the bracelet and a ladies watch from Mary Ferrara of 165 Franklin Street. Chief Dwyer, after a brief juvenile interrogation, secured the confession and the jewelry was recovered through the paper's advertising reach.

Community Christmas Tree Lights Up Sunday Evening

The Community Christmas Tree on the common will be lighted by electricity at 6:30 Sunday evening. Carols will be sung with the chorus led by T. Clarke Brown. Church choirs school pupils and parents are invited to join the chorus.

Social Bowling League forms at Y M C A with seven teams

Seven teams have registered for the Social Bowling League of the Y M C A. Captains are Charles Beals John Anderson J T Robertson E L Church W H Coggeshall L H Gallo and George Cornell. Other teams should contact Mr Merriam. Captains meet next Tuesday at 8 pm at the Y M C A office to finalize plans for a January start.
