Military recruitment rule affects Selective Service registrants
Lt. Col. Sheldon P. McNickle announced that Regular Army enlistment is not open to men who have orders to report for induction under Selective Service. Such individuals must be processed as selectees and cannot join voluntarily. The notice urges registrants to explore branches and overseas assignments available to Regular Army volunteers. December 26 events include a Wednesday Hop at the Y Gym and a December 31 New Year’s Eve Dance at the Bristol Yacht Club.
