Delays Foreseeable In Holiday Long Distance Calls
The New England Telephone and Telegraph Company forecasts longer delays for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day calls, especially to distant points outside New England. Veterans and service members abroad boost volume, prompting urging to shift calls to December 22 and 23. Long distance calls on the holiday should be brief, with three minutes in some German occupation zones and advance booking likely required. Overseas circuits will support limited radiotelephone service.
