Women's Club Cancels Servicemen's Dance

The Young Women's Club of the YMCA cancels its Servicemen's Christmas dance planned for tomorrow evening due to special liberties granted for men to spend Christmas at home. Elizabeth M. Gifford publicity director announced. Members will still meet for a Christmas party at the same hour and were asked to bring only half the planned refreshments and no presents.

Telephone Operators Hold Merry Yule Party

Local telephone operators celebrated Yuletide at the building Thursday evening. Gloria Vallante distributed gifts on behalf of St Nicholas. Dorothy Foster received many gifts as chef operator. Virginia Brightman Henna Wells and Madelee Wonners won horse racing prizes. Gilda Maighort and Marie Sullivan Muss won IQ contests. Catherine Hammill performed Hawaiian guitar impressions and Foster told fortunes.

A C John Partington Earns Aerial Gunner Wings

Aviation Cadet John Partington son of Mr and Mrs H Partington of 98 Constitution Street was graduated from Harlingen Texas flexible gunnery school and qualified as an expert aerial gunner after six weeks of intensive training. He is a Providence College graduate on nine day furlough and will proceed to an advanced bombardier school for a second lieutenant commission and a pair of wings. He learned to operate several guns and fired hundreds of rounds at moving targets in the Gulf region.
