Two letters dated October 25 and 26 from Lt. Wilson to his wife Eleanor list him as safe and in good health in a German camp. He praises Red Cross aid in prisons and posts about daily life including classes and games. He requests packages with socks chocolate and a pipe and expresses hope for a future reunion.
Monday evening marks the start of the YMCA Senior Basketball League featuring Collins and Aikman versus US Rubber and Prudence Island Bluejackets versus United Rubber Workers. Four war worker and serviceman teams compete in a two half schedule from December to February and February to April. After the opening game a celebratory dance will be held, with governance by Albert Fusome Archie Allen To 8n Borges Robert Criagan and D V Capone.
Elizabeth Jackson named chief clerk of Bristol Rationing and Price Control Office by Capt Paul A Herzig with Boston and Providence OPA approval. She replaces Edith M Jordan who resigned to live in Florida. Also announced is Elizabeth Watters as a clerk, a civil service appointment assigned to the Price Panel.
Albert T Fusonie former Taft School coach and industrial relations manager spoke at a banquet honoring the Colt 1943 football team and cheerleaders. The event in the high school dining rooms featured remarks by Coach Allen and Supt. Mapes, with Vincent Securo as toastmaster and gifts donated to seniors. A school dance followed in the Colt auditorium with faculty chaperones.
Radio celebrities from Double Or Nothing arrived before sunrise to present four ten minute sketches for war bond buyers at United States Rubber in Bristol. The daylong program includes cast members on WEAN and a 9 30 pm show from the Rhode Island School of Design auditorium. The event, staged by U S Rubber with Treasury and Rhode Island Industries, runs 5 45 am to 10 pm with coast to coast broadcast via Mutual and WEAN.
Henry Wood as chairman of the Post War Projects Planning Committee promotes a weekly America Tomorrow radio forum on the Blue Network. Talks air Tuesdays at 10 30 p m Eastern War Time with topics on lagas in postwar employment and essential global collaboration followed by dates through January detailing reconversion and demobilization of service members and private vs government roles.
The Colt Memorial 1944 football schedule announced by William J. Callahan lists games on Saturdays from October through November with openings on October 7 and November 18. Potential rescheduling options and mutual-agreement provisions allow October 14 and October games to shift to October 12 or preceding Fridays.
Special services at First Congregational and First Baptist on Sunday feature evening and morning music. Albert Jamies reports Bristol County war bond and stamps sales for November. Industrial Trust Co branches and post offices totaled 58 656 25, with 30 062 50 from Bristol area and 28 593 75 from Warren branch and post office totals.
Citizens note that shields were removed from many street lights last evening. Narragansett Electric Light Co crews began the job yesterday and rapidly progressed. Hope and Wood streets appeared fully lighted again, restoring brighter nights citywide.

48 women completed a three month Red Cross home nursing course begun in September. Rev Anthony R Parshley and Rev Arthur W Burdon spoke and presented awards. A Christmas party and buffet followed with carols led by Mrs Vasta LaRuggaro.
In wartime Washington a new housing hub Arlington Farms shelters about 4800 young female workers in dormitory blocks named after states. Rents range from 24.50 to 1650 monthly with communal facilities and activities from languages to dances. The facility includes corridor lounges kitchens laundries date rooms game rooms and a lending library and hosts career woman like deans managing each building.
