Letters From Lt. Wilson in German Prison Camp Found

Two letters dated October 25 and 26 from Lt. Wilson to his wife Eleanor list him as safe and in good health in a German camp. He praises Red Cross aid in prisons and posts about daily life including classes and games. He requests packages with socks chocolate and a pipe and expresses hope for a future reunion.

Senior Basketball League Opens Week With Four War Worker Teams

Monday evening marks the start of the YMCA Senior Basketball League featuring Collins and Aikman versus US Rubber and Prudence Island Bluejackets versus United Rubber Workers. Four war worker and serviceman teams compete in a two half schedule from December to February and February to April. New Appointments To Rationing Board

Elizabeth Jackson named chief clerk of Bristol Rationing and Price Control Office by Capt Paul A Herzig with Boston and Providence OPA approval. Radio artists visit Bristol war plant for bond drive sketches

Radio celebrities from Double Or Nothing arrived before sunrise to present four ten minute sketches for war bond buyers at United States Rubber in Bristol. The daylong program includes cast members on WEAN and a 9 30 pm show from the Rhode Island School of Design auditorium. The event, staged by U S Rubber with Treasury and Rhode Island Industries, runs 5 45 am to 10 pm with coast to coast broadcast via Mutual and WEAN.

Albert Jamies reports Bristol County war bond and stamps sales for November. Industrial Trust Co branches and post offices totaled 58 656 25, with 30 062 50 from Bristol area and 28 593 75 from Warren branch and post office totals.

Street lights re-shielding completed in town and state

Citizens note that shields were removed from many street lights last evening. Narragansett Electric Light Co crews began the job yesterday and rapidly progressed. Hope and Wood streets appeared fully lighted again, restoring brighter nights citywide.

In wartime Washington a new housing hub Arlington Farms shelters about 4800 young female workers in dormitory blocks named after states. Rents range from 24.50 to 1650 monthly with communal facilities and activities from languages to dances. The facility includes corridor lounges kitchens laundries date rooms game rooms and a lending library and hosts career woman like deans managing each building.
