School Board Hears Post War Planning and Appoints Nurse

The School Committee met in executive session to cooperate with the Post War Planning Projects Committee chaired by Henry Wood. Mrs Luke H Callan was elected school nurse succeeding Mrs Mary Sisson St Angelo, with prior experience at Electric Boat Groton and Judson Health Center New York City. Mrs Catherine Collins Leonard resigned. Mrs Jean Mullican and Mrs Mary C McHugh reassigned. Matthew G Maetaro reappointed attendance officer. Mrs Joseph Almeida and Mrs Edward Kavanaugh named census enumerators. Delays in Day Nursery salaries discussed with Dr Rockett. new payroll plan to pay twice monthly. Minor repairs authorized, four gym mats approved for Guiteras Junior High. High School 4A to host dance December 15 for football team. revisions to English and Social Studies courses noted.

Fellowship Plans Christmas Party at Two Churches

Frank M. Dimond named chair of the committee to arrange the Christmas party for the Yodne People's Fellowship of St Michael's Church and the First Congregational Church set for December 22. Plans were discussed at a Holmes House meeting with Jamice Hayden Herbert Hayden John N Tuplhin David Mathewson and Roswell S S Bosworth Jr on the arrangements panel. Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps and the high school graduation were among films shown, under Hubert F Full and Herbert A Jerauld in charge.

Ivy Guild Christmas Party At St Michael’s Tonight

The Ivy Guild of St Michael's Church hosts its annual Christmas party this evening at 7 30 after the regular meeting in Holmes House Gifts will be distributed and refreshments served. Christmas Party Display by Carls Friendly Society

Mothers and friends of the Candidates Class of the Carls Friendly Society at St Michael's Church will attend the annual Christmas party on Thursday afternoon in the parish house. Gifts the girls made for state institution inmates including baskets of candles for adults and dolls for children will be displayed. Mrs John G Stewart is in charge of arrangements.

St Elizabeth's CYO Opens Season Victory Over Sea Scouts

St Elizabeth's CYO basketball team opened the season with a 44 to 31 win against the Sea Scouts of Our Lady of Laurel parish in Fast Providence. George Travers scored 20 points to lead, with Farsco scoring 18 and teammates Lionel Martin Harry Andrews Joe Janario and Manuel Janario contributing. The team plays next in East Providence Thursday.

Schedule For Observation Post Announced By G R Fish Chief Observer

G R Fish of the U S Army Air Force Air Warning Service releases the duty roster for December and early January 1944. Observers listed serve on specified Sundays and Thursdays with post openings from 1 to 5 pm for aircraft reporting to the Filter Center. Assistant Chief Observer A Elmer McNamara will coach plane ID and observers may practice plane spotting afternoons by reporting to the post. Cardboard model planes are provided for identification study and observers must be ready to respond to alert alarms as directed.

Delegates and alternates for the Spring Conference and Continental Congress were named. the Ellis Island shower will mark the next chapter meeting.

U S Rubber Hosts Double Or Nothing Cast in Rhode Island

The U S Rubber Company brings the radio program Double Or Nothing to Rhode Island with four personal appearance shows at the Bristol plant Friday morning between 6 45 and 7 45 am. The cast will tour other industrial sites in the state before a 9 pm broadcast from the Rhode Island School of Design auditorium. Tickets go to war bond and war loan contributors and Bristol employees, with Governor McGrath an expected guest. Cast members visit Walsh Kaiser USS Rubber Providence Shrine Club and naval bases during the day.

Mrs Marjorie Bo McCann was chosen president of the Collins and Aikman Girls' Club at a home meeting on Burton street. Al Sinibaldi former New England light heavyweight champion who lived in Bristol before enlisting in the Navy has completed the physical instructor course at Bainbridge Maryland and is assigned as an instructor at the Jacksonville Florida Naval base.
