Postmaster Daniel W Coggeshall announces Sunday hours from 9 to 12 and 1 to 5 through Christmas. Weekdays operate 6 30 am to 7 30 pm. Saturday December 15 closes at 4 pm and December 22 opens until 7 30 pm.

Mrs Sylvia Morris Hit By Automobile Tuesday

Mrs Sylvia Morris was struck by a car driven by Joseph Almeida 23 of 62 Court Street Tuesday night while crossing Church Street at Wood Street. She suffered a head contusion as Almeida said he was watching children running into the street at the time of the accident.

Americanization Class Ends Session With Christmas Party

The Andrews Memorial High School Americanization Class closed its final session with a Christmas Party held Tuesday evening in the music room. Performers included Emilio Ianucillo a budding trickster, Rosalie Weber with a tap dance, and Robert Perry singing "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas." Guests were served refreshments by class members Mary Soares and Lucy Fernandes, and the evening ended with carol singing.

Mrs. Mary McHugh Appointed Americanization Instructor

Mrs Mary J McHugh of Bristol has been appointed by the State Department of Education to teach Americanization classes starting next Monday. She will survey naturalization Hearings progress and may prompt a second teacher as demand grows. The Bristol Americanization Committee, led by James E Sullivan, notes WPA and industrial cooperation plans to expand courses locally.

Tag Day for Christmas Fund Boost by Girl Scouts

Fourteen Girl Scouts will patrol the streets with tags and coin boxes tomorrow to raise funds for the Community Christmas Fund. The event coincides with Christmas scenes under construction at Guiteras Memorial Junior High School and a community carol sing set for December 23.

Rev Robert C Newbold will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Francis P Keough at Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral Providence on Saturday December 22 at 8 am He will celebrate his first solemn mass at St Marys Church the next day at 11 am A reception will follow Sunday afternoon from 4 to 8 pm at the home of his parents 114 Franklin Street Newbold son of Mr and Mrs Robert G Newbold born July 8 1920 He attended St Marys School Colt Memorial High School Providence College 1938 to 1940 and St Bernards Seminary Rochester NY where he completed his studies this year.

Missionary Society Hears Mrs. E. M. Ricketson

The First Congregational Church Missionary Society hosted Mrs. E. M. Ricketson of Providence as guest speaker in the General House. She spoke on Southern Union College and the Congregational Christian College in Alabama where she serves as a trustee and outlined postwar church plans. Members sewed baby clothing for European countries after the meeting. hostesses were Mrs. Charles F. Dimond and Miss Mary McShane.
