Canon Parshley forecasts long path to world federation at Rotary meeting

Canon Parshley told Rotary Club observers that world relations will unfold like the American path to a federal union ending in a Civil War era consolidation. He warned of a long, stormy process possibly spanning centuries before a peaceful global federation is achieved. Jerome Donovan attended as a guest of Arthur McCaw and future meetings were slated for St Michael's Parish House.

Catholic Girls Club CGO Forms at Mt Carmel Parish

The Catholic Girls Organization named CGO was chosen for the new girls club formed on the 17th of last month at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church Anne Bruno proposed the name and won a prize. By laws are approved and members are selling Christmas cards for the club treasury. The group is running a rifle contest with a crucifix and holy items as prizes and plans a December 22 parish hall Christmas party with games and volleyball afterward.

Chaplain Lawrence E Deery of Woonsocket and former curate of St Marys Church is awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart, placing him among twenty one Army chaplains to earn the Silver Star and seventeen to wear the Purple Heart.

Twin sisters Mary Sousa and Julia Medeiros of this town are both confined to home treatment for pleurisy while under the care of the same doctor.
