Trinity Episcopal Church Contract Awarded to Providence Firm

The contract for the new Trinity Episcopal Church on Hope Street near Perry Street was signed with A. F Smiley Construction Co of Providence. Construction will begin soon after topsoil removal, the 36 by 79 foot building will seat about 178 in the nave plus 25 choir stalls, feature a 38 foot tower, an elevated sanctuary, basement auditorium with stage and kitchen, and a heating system.

Rotarians Hear Of Paul Harris Foundation

Kim White of New Bedford told the Rotary Club about qualifications for Paul Harris Fellowship Foundation scholarships. Applicants must be university graduates or seniors with strict screening, awarded by Rotary International for study abroad. Nineteen recipients exist now with a goal of 100 globally. Funding comes from Rotarians worldwide. Paul Harris founded Rotary International and died two years ago.
