Kearney Legion Starts Fund Drive for Christmas Dinners
The American Legion Post No 6 of Kearney launches its annual Christmas Basket Fund to provide dinners for needy families. Last year 38 families benefited. this year contributions from individuals and groups are urged. Donations to Bow Wall 539 Hope Street or 37 Cook Street will be acknowledged. Public events at the Pastime Theatre Sundays support the drive.

Fred H. Lawrence of Metacom Avenue Warren was found probably guilty of causing the death of James W Meiggs following a Fifth District Court trial. He is bound over to the Providence County Bristol County grand jury with $3000 bail and remains at the Bristol County Jail awaiting Superior Court proceedings in Providence.

Governor Norman announces the appointment of Attorney Benjamin F. Lindemuth of Bristol as Justice of the Fifth District Court to fill the vacancy from Judge Frank Hammill’s death. Six Hundred Loaves of Bread to be Given Needy
Gaetano Caizza the well known baker at 241 State street began distributing 600 loaves of bread to the poor and needy of this town. About 100 loaves will be given daily for the remainder of the week to those with tickets signed by Rev Fr Joseph Pora or Miss Gertrude M Flashrouck. Caizza will bake over 100 loaves daily and distribute them to those deemed worthy.

Kearney Post No 6 American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary discussed a Christmas party at a Friday meeting.
